Discovering where
the animals go
Space Use Ecology is a modeling and visualization tool for estimating patterns of animal space use in >2 dimensions using biotelemetry data. Investigators can upload wildlife tracking datasets directly or via link to the movebank.org repository and customize model input parameters. The app will then derive 2D, 2.5D and 3D movement-based kernel density estimates of space use, bounded by bathymetric and/or topographic layers to more realistically characterize animal spatial behaviors.
This Shiny app uses the mkde R package to estimate animal space use in 3D using data collected from biotelemetry tracking devices.
